Calls For More Goods to Travel by Train

There have recently been letters appearing in the Ross-Shire local papers calling for more goods, especially those conveyed by Tesco lorries, to travel by train.

With three Tesco stores in Inverness, one each in Dingwall, Aviemore, Forres and Elgin the A9 is constantly clogged by the company's slow moving lorries. Tesco is almost unique on insisting that its drivers obey the regulation 40 mph limit for single carriageway roads but unfortunately not many of Tesco's drivers heed the roadside signs 'Drive with consideration' and 'Allow faster traffic to overtake safely'.
