From 25 September to 3 October last year HRH - in which FoFNL plays a role which needs to be much more actively pursued - operated a programme of railtours, study tours and lectures based on Fort William and Oban, between which steam trips were run, as well as to Glasgow and Mallaig. There was also a filmshow at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness, which offered outstanding footage.

Those who missed these activities denied themselves a treat. Steam-hauled trains are at their best in Scotland, and the glory of the West Highland Lines is that each route is different. Anyone who says "when you've seen one you've seen them all" is in urgent need of an eye test! (Alright; I'll exempt those travelling after dark or when the cloud is really low.)

This coming year's programme runs from 23 September to 1 October, with trips from Fort William to Oban, Oban to Stirling, Stirling to Inverness and Inverness to Aberdeen, plus study tours in the Trossachs, and to the Keith & Dufftown and Speyside Railways. We will try to keep you fully updated. Don't miss out!
