Promoting The Far North Line

Your committee has been busy publicising two major events on the Far North Line. For the introduction of the winter Sunday service an A5 leaflet was produced and samples sent to all the Community Councils along the line asking for help in distributing the leaflets and publicity in the form of articles in their newsletters. All the local papers were contacted and a supply of leaflets were sent to Raigmore Hospital and the Colleges in Thurso and Inverness. Committee members distributed leaflets to shops and public places in Thurso, Wick, Golspie, Brora, Helmsdale, Tain, Invergordon and Alness. The northbound commuter train on consecutive Fridays was also leafletted.

For the re-opening of Beauly Station we will be distributing leaflets to all households with the co-operation of the Beauly Community Council. The delay in opening the station is due to increased costs incurred on the approach roadway to the station. At the latest Highland Rail Partnership meeting FoFNL was pushing for a speedy resolution to this problem.
