Improving Far North Services - 50 Years Ago

From Railway Magazine, March 1961: Train Services in Northern Scotland. - "Rogart station is to be reopened but the continuance of the restored railway facilities will be dependent on adequate patronage.

"It may be hoped that a similar decision will be taken in other cases. Halkirk and Muir of Ord are two places that come readily to mind; both are of fair size and had conveniently situated stations."

Notes from a Presentation to the Scottish Transport Users' Consultative Committee on Forthcoming Timetable Changes: 1 September 1992. SCOTRAIL: PSO SERVICES, WINTER 1992

There are few major changes, with effort having been concentrated on solving specific problems and achieving modest cost savings.
