Station News

As you will have gathered from the photographs in this issue of Far North Express, the construction of Conon Bridge is well under way. The opening ceremony is planned for Friday, 8th February and we believe that passenger trains will start to call there on the same day. A selection of photographs can be found here.

Also, the Minister for Housing and Transport, Keith Brown, announced on 4th December that, on the Aberdeen - Inverness line, Dalcross station (for Inverness airport), and Kintore (between Dyce and Inverurie) would reopen some time between 2014 and 2019. Some elements of the media have interpreted this as "little more than a year". Would that this extreme optimism be true! The original Dalcross station opened on Monday, 5th November, 1855 and closed on Monday, 3rd May, 1965.
