DESIGNATION OF EXPERIMENTAL PASSENGER SERVICES

Under the terms of the Railways Act 1993, as amended by the Transport Act 2000, the Strategic Rail Authority may designate a new service as experimental. This is to allow the service's viability to be demonstrated before it becomes permanent. The following has been designated.

SERVICES TO AND FROM BEAULY STATION ON THE LINES BETWEEN INVERNESS AND KYLE OF LOCHALSH AND INVERNESS AND THURSO/WICK.

  1. The Authority, in exercise of its powers under Section 48 of the Railways Act, 1993, as amended by the Transport Act 2000, hereby designates as experimental, in relation to the station proposed to be opened at Beauly, services to be provided on the lines between Inverness and Kyle of Lochalsh and Inverness and Thurso/Wick.
  2. The designation is for a period of one year beginning 12 February 2002.
