The speed of construction at Conon Bridge can be seen by comparing this photo, taken on 18th November, with the top photo on this page, taken just over a month later. Both were taken from a position of safety outside the railway boundary.

The transition between steam and diesel is pictured at Georgemas Junction on Tuesday, 18th April, 1961. Stanier 3MT 2-6-2T 40150 has arrived from Thurso whilst D5120 arrives from Wick. At the end of 1973, the diesel would become 24120 and be withdrawn just three years later. 40150 was built in 1937 and withdrawn in December, 1962.
