After reading the article in the Ross-shire Journal referred to on a previous page my mind started to dwell on the phrase "Black Isle rail links". Surely the author couldn't have been referring to the former Fortrose to Muir of Ord branch could he, but then why not, others are proposing a similar scheme.

Just think, if only we had retained the track bed we could have had a transport interchange at Tore (Allangrange), construct the line through to Fortrose and then continue down across the golf course (the golfers would support a green issue such as new transport links), bridge across to Fort George, link up to the former branch at Ardersier with a revised layout at the junction with the Aberdeen - Inverness line and, hey presto, a new rail link with Inverness calling at the Airport for good measure. And then the RETB burst into life and my daydreams ended!
