Staff and Passengers Mourn Passing of Diesel the Station Cat

First Scot-Rail staff confirmed Diesel the station cat had died. She was well known to commuters and staff at Inverness Station.

Diesel was a feral cat and had earned fans from around the world during her 14 years at the station with one tourist even sending a food parcel from Finland.

She was put down by vets earlier this week after being diagnosed with kidney failure.

First ScotRail's north business manager Michelle Crawford said: "Diesel was a much-loved personality around the station for well over a decade. She will be sadly missed by staff and by customers, including the many foreign visitors to Inverness. After meeting Diesel, they often came back with gifts - from beds to toys."
