Even snow-blocks have their romantic side...for is it not on record that a well-to-do Manchester merchant had cause to think that the snow-block in his particular case, was the most delightful thing in life?

In a snowed-up carriage he made the acquaintance of a bonnie lassie belonging to Caithness. As they were over a week on the journey, the acquaintance ripened along the lines of least resistance, and eventually culminated in marriage.

No doubt the happy couple thought within themselves that even a snow-block had its advantages.
