It's excellent news to see the progress being made to bring Helmsdale station into Community use. We have been through the highs and lows of Tain and Brora becoming of use to their respective communities often enough so let's hope that our fellow member is successful. Also, we wish fellows members Chris and Andrew Wright with the venture on Sowerby Bridge station.

For some time now I have been creating a PowerPoint presentation of photos that I have taken or been given from along the Line. In October we are contributing to the Highland Homecoming celebrations in a presentation we have called "A virtual journey on the Far North Line". However, the photographs get only limited exposure by this method and whilst there are photos on our website I have been trying to come to terms with Picasa as a means of creating public slide shows.

This issue sees the start of a series of submissions from the British Transport Police. Inspector Bob Cameron was one of our high profile speakers at the AGM who is keen to promote the contribution that the BTP can make in our communities.

I am always happy to receive submissions from members but publication doesn't automatically mean that the committee shares the views expressed in the article.
