New Freight Service on the Highland Main Line

A new freight service is being operated by Russells from Coatbridge to Inverness due about 0600hrs so it can be unloaded and leave 0930hrs before the 0500hrs 4H47 Tesco train arrives from Grangemouth. This train from Grangemouth is the train DRS will take over. DRS have the contract for the Russell trains to and from Daventry and from the Russell Group's Barking terminal to Coatbridge with sugar from Tate and Lyle.

The new train is due to start Wednesday 23rd and run for the rest of the week and on Wednesday 4Z48 passed Stirling at 0222hrs with two class 37 locomotives and two twin flats, not a big load but a start. It's due to leave Inverness as 4Z50 at 0922 to arrive Coatbridge1505. This is a new path but north bound it will use the old Safeway path at present. The sugar is only for customers in the Glasgow area but if a customer in or about Inverness uses bulk sugar a tank container can be transferred to move North.
